From our perspective, this is a missed opportunity to work with the Mediator to create a way forward. As BCPSEA has not yet made progress at the table, BCPSEA asked the Ombudsman on 1 October to submit a report under section 74(5) of the Labour Relations Act concerning negotiations between BCPSEA and BCTF for a renewed provincial collective agreement. LRB appointed David Schaub as mediator and the parties continued to meet in July and August with The support of Mr Schaub and met 69 times in total since the start of negotiations until 1 October 2019. The Ombudsman has now set meeting dates for the parties for 27 and 28 February 2020 and further meeting dates are set for March.
